At Westlands Nursery, our staff undergo a rigorous screening process before being hired to ensure only highly motivated, dedicated individuals join our team.

Nearly 40% of our staff have a degree level qualification in specific childcare or primary education. Whilst the the other 40% are level 3 qualified with additional supporting qualifications in forest school, SEN and speech and language specialisms.  

Each staff member has expertise in child development with a focus on practical, creative or communicative learning. This holistic approach to teaching provides a warm, supportive environment where children and families can flourish.

There is an excellent balance between adult supported, child-initiated play and adult-directed activities.

Our staff undertake effective observations, assessment and planning with managerial support to figure out the best way to support your child and their needs.

Claire Burnell is the Manager of our setting and has a combination of exceptional care for children and their families with full understanding the joys and challenges of combining work and parenting. Claire is personally interested in upholding the highest of standards in both child care and the service provision, so parents can rest assured their children are in good hands, under excellent management. Claire’s main role will be providing guidance for children families and staff to deliver outstanding childcare and ensuring the high quality of care and early learning is delivered, achieved and maintained. Claire has an extensive background in Early Years having achieved two Outstanding no notice OFSTED awards in her previous employment and having gained a wonderful reputation with families in our locality. Claire’s role will also ensure all legal requirements are adhered to and ensure records are maintained. Along with Naomi, Claire is responsible for recruitment and management of the professional workforce.
