Our Nursery

Wetlands’ modern, spacious building offers a friendly, safe place for your children. Designed with young ones in mind, the open partitioning, quality materials and natural colours allow the natural environment to flood in. Three unique rooms were created to cater to different age groups of children but we offer flexibility within the rooms, capturing each unique child’s stage of development. We have two dedicated sleep rooms, one which doubles as a wonderful serene sensory room. Our toilets cater for all age groups and needs and includes a specific nappy change area for our babies and toddlers.

The outside spaces are well secured environments that provide endless opportunities for the children to explore, play and learn. Some of the activities include sand and water play, a climbing wall, mud kitchens, and growing trays! We also have many pets on site that offer learning opportunities for our children and teaches them the importance of care giving. The babies have a dedicated outside area and the pre- schoolchildren have their own dedicated outside covered space that provides  wonderful opportunities for outside learning all year round.

With such an inviting outside area, activities are designed with an outdoor approach, encouraging the children to have fun, express themselves, imagine, grow, develop and reach their full potential! But of course, along with all the fun, we ensure our curriculum and overarching principles are applied.

Nourished Tummies Nurtured Minds

Here at Westlands we truly value educating children on the importance of nutritional meals and healthy eating habits. We have found that getting children involved in some part of the gathering (through our allotment club) and/or preparation of a meal can positively impact their willingness to try new foods. Our Westlands chef will prepare wholesome cooked meals for the children. All our meals and snacks are cooked from scratch and local when we can get it.  We believe this encourages them to develop a love of fresh and healthy family food whilst we start to develop ‘eating together’ habits that we know become paramount for family routine and connection with our loved ones.

Extracurricular activities

Our forest school forms the daily basis of our outdoor learning, along with our regularly attended allotment club.

Multi sports skills, street dance, yoga, and use of our local walks and footpaths for pond dipping and nature walks are most certainly on the cards once considerations for Covid are a thing of the past.

We are happy to offer school pick up sessions from Kilkhampton primary school and holiday club for children up to the age of 9 years.
